Iso Certification

Mobile, AL, August 27, 2002: Bender Shipbuilding & Repair Co., Inc., along with Cutting Edge Metal Processing is proud to announce completion and award of ISO 9001:2000 Certification from ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) Quality Evaluations, of Houston, Texas. The International Standards Organization (ISO) leads the world in setting standards of quality. Since publication in 1987, ISO 9000 has been adopted as the national standard for Quality Management by well over fifty countries to date.

Becoming registered to the ISO 9000 Standard has become increasingly important to companies in the United States as a way to meet the demands of overseas and domestic Customers. Customers know that when companies set up a Quality System according to ISO 9000 requirements, those companies are much more capable of consistently ensuring top quality products and services.

Auditors arrived at Bender Shipbuilding and Repair in June, and were quite impressed with Bender’s Quality System. Bender is one of the largest shipyards in Mobile, and with the ISO “stamp of approval”, the shipyard now has an enhanced market appeal to customers worldwide. Bender invites all it’s customers and employees to join us in celebrating this achievement.
